The latest iteration of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation programme (Batch 'B' Stream 1) took place nationwide during the period spanning 10 – 27 June 2026. In Bauchi State, it took place at the Orientation camp in Wailo, a town in Ganjuwa Local Government Area. In general, the objectives of the orientation course include giving Corps members a better understanding of the objectives of the NYSC Scheme; acquainting members with their environment in their political, cultural, social and economic setting; equipping Corps members with practical social and leadership skills that will enable them meet the challenges of the service year ahead; and to inculcate in the Corps members the spirit of national consciousness as a basic ingredient in nation building, amongst others. The orientation course content involves physical training, drills, lectures on the people and tradition of the host State, professional lectures for Corps health personnel, lawyers, teachers and skill acquisition training etc. Corps members participate in social activities designed to create opportunities for them to interact, such as dance, drama, sports, Man ‘O’ War activities, as well as the always eagerly-anticipated ‘Miss NYSC and Mr Macho’ variety night. This time round in the Wailo camp, the title of ‘Miss NYSC’ was won by Ms. Ella Ndubuisi of Platoon 5, while Mr. Abdulhadi Aminu dominated and deservedly took the title of ‘Mr. Macho’, followed by Mr. Abdulsamad Olalekan of Platoon 4 in 2nd place and Geoffrey Emmanuel of Platoon in 3rd.
Participation and victory in this event served as a good test run for Aminu, who is making plans to step up into proper competitive bodybuilding in the nearest future. Here is another bright prospect to keep an eye on!
