The city of Yaounde, capital of the Central African nation of Cameroon (Nigeria’s eastern neighbour), welcomed some of the best bodybuilding athletes in the world as the 2026 edition of the WFF Pro-Am World championships made landfall, on African soil for the very first time. Organised by the Fédération Camerounaise de Bodybuilding & Fitness (FECABOF) and Cameroon’s Ministére de Sports et de l’Education Physique (MINSEP), in conjunction with the World Fitness Federation (WFF) from 24-28 July 2026, the championship involved contestants from over 40 countries around the world, including Nigeria, which was making its debut.
The event took place in the city’s prestigious Hilton hotel and featured contests across a variety of categories including Bikini, Sports model, Latino & Monokini, Bermuda model & Jeans/Men's Physique, Glamour, Junior-Masters-Grandmasters, Fitness-Performance-Athletic, Superbody-Extreme, Pro Classic Physique and Pro Open. Abdullateef Olaoluwa Onilejin (Bermuda model & Jeans/Men's Physique tall division, above 1.78m) and Badmus Hammed (Bermuda model & Jeans/Men's Physique short division, below 1.78m) made the relatively short trip from Lagos to Central Africa and came away with very respectable performances, each winning gold medals as well as WFF Pro cards - earning Pro league qualification status in the process. The overall show itself was won by homeboy Christian Nsanga, who also won the ‘Pro Open’ division.
Once again, we offer our congrats to Abdullateef and Badmus for doing themselves and the nation proud, and we welcome the idea of more and more opportunities opening up for aspiring athletes all over…and our message to the world is: Naija no de carry last! Nigeria everywhere!
