The Amateur Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation of Nigeria (ABBFN) and the Federal Ministry of Health in conjunction with other stakeholders in their efforts and response to mitigate the tragedy of alarming rise in premature death occasioned by heart diseases (Myocarcardinal infarction, Coronary heart diseases, Stroke other cardiovascular diseases), Diabetes, Cancer, Bone diseases (Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis) and other medical conditions that are preventable through the culture of a healthy lifestyles have organized some events such as: Nigeria 30 x 30 and IFBB MR UNIVERSE NIGERIA in October 2023. The Nigeria 30 x 30 was meant to commence from 1st of October to 30th of October nationwide, but for the logistic and other reasons that arose the stakeholders advised that the 2023 edition of the Nigeria 30 x 30 should be a pilot project to be held in Lagos and Port Harcourt.

The pilot project was held on the 1st of October, 2023 with the President of the Amateur Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation of Nigeria (ABBFN), Mr Soye Elekima, leading the different sports activities in Port Harcourt city. Attendance was drawn from different ministries and parastatals, with the state ministry of Health leading the way. Youths constitute the majority of the participants with the chunk of them coming from different make-shift gyms spread all around Lagos and Port Harcourt.

The Nigerian Fitness Challenge was a huge success as about 1000 participants participated actively in Lagos and Port Harcourt. The pictorials and video of the event speak for themselves. If the Federation can record 1000 participants from 2 states within a very short time of preparation as a pilot, one can imagine the turn out in the next fitness challenge in 2024 second edition. Our target is to influence and affect over five (5) million Nigerians by 2027 who would have maintained a healthy lifestyle of fitness nationwide, thereby reducing the incident of premature death drastically among the population and in the other hand encourages grassroots sports development.
